When was the last time you heard someone admit, “Here’s how I was the villain in someone else’s story”? We’re comfortable sharing our battles with anxiety, recounting our failures, and discussing mental health struggles. But when it comes to acknowledging the ways we’ve caused harm, we shy away. There’s a collective reluctance to confront our shadows, to look at parts of ourselves we’d rather keep hidden. Perhaps it’s fear of what we’ll uncover, or maybe we don’t want to shatter the image of ourselves as “decent” or “good.”
